How to Marble Glass With Nail Polish

I did a post a few months ago on how to marble coffee cups using nail polish. Lots of other readers wanted to know what else can be marbled. I decided to show you how to upgrade your old jars into marbled candle holders. You can also use inexpensive glass candle holders or wine glasses.
This glass candle holder only cost $1 and the polish was $1 each at the local Dollar place. You could also marble Easter eggs (plastic or blown out) and they would be beautiful.

Step 1
Clean your glass well and use rubbing alcohol to clean any oils or residue from the glass. The polish will not stick well if the glass is not squeaky clean. Drip the polish on to the surface of the water. Work quickly to layer the colors. The polish begins to dry as it spreads across the water and if you do not work quickly enough you will be unable to make a design and the polish will begin to gum up.
Step 2
Use your toothpick to carefully make your design in the polish by dragging the tip of the toothpick through the polish.
Step 3
Dip the glass in to the water slowly and at an angle. Submerge the glass in the water or roll the glass across the top of the water to get the design you want. If you are worried about your manicure wear disposable gloves. If you make a mistake use polish remover to clean the glass and try again. It can take a few tries to get exactly what you want.
Set the non polished side on a paper towel or newspaper to dry over night. I made the mistake of patting the marbling with a paper towel before it was completely dry and I had to start over. Water drops may make little circles in the design.
Hand wash the glass carefully it may chip depending on the polish. If you want a more durable paint use glass paint that says microwave and dishwasher safe for this project.
