DIY Shiplap Wall
An easy and inexpensive solution for creating a shiplap wall.
If you are a fan of HGTV's Fixer Upper, then you're familiar with shiplap. I've been admiring this wall treatment for a while, and after some research, I created my own DIY shiplap wall.
Our kitchen has a long wall that runs from the stove to the kitchen nook window. I have struggled with what to do with this giant wall since we moved in. I painted it in a beige color and then several month later I added a stencil. But the stencil was too much for me on the large wall.
I had researched using this pine plank paneling for shiplap, and it was an easy and inexpensive solution for my large space (Just under $100 for enough paneling to cover my entire wall).
There were quite a few power tools involved, but we completed the wall (9 feet by 20 feet) in one day. I had the entire wall primed and painted by day two.
We spent quite a bit of time figuring out the best solution for a wall and wanted to create a pattern.
This project was extra fun because it was really easy to see progress.
And the final result had me loving that giant wall - finally!
We used a jigsaw to cut around the hood, but it was much easier than expected.
