I just bought an old washboard at the thrift shop. I need ideas on what I can do with it.

    I would plant out a container for the garden with something like white Alyssum that will look like soap suds and put the washboard in the pot so it looks like wash day. Or you could hang it on the wall in the laundry as a decorative item.

    I would also agree on the planting of the wash tub,however make sure you put drainage holes in it.

    If it is metal you can put magnets on it and display pictures, recipes, kids drawings, etc.

    I would use it as a climbing board for vines in the garden or even on a deck.

    I have seen these with an added piece of wood to create a shelf. Great for hanging in a kitchen or laundry room. You can paint it to match your colors.

    Hubby built a box with 1/2 shelves and used the washboard for the door, can leave the original advertisement on the door or insert your photo of choice...country look for the laundry room or any room. Help answer this question...

    I have seen them with plastic flower bouquet attached to the washboard end tied in burlap or raffia and also have seen them with small hooks attached aross the bottom and used to hang our keys on.

    Saw a post on Hometalk where the blogger used mousetraps with magnets on the back to "stick" to her washboard for messages. Cute idea. A quarter, huh!?! What a steal!

    I hung mine in my laundry room and used refrigerator magnets on it to hold notes regarding laundry hints.

    If the style would fit your kitchen put hooks on each side hang near the sink and use for dishtowels or pot holders
