Simple Spring Mantel in 5 Easy Steps

Our mantel needed an update for spring (the after-Christmas music sheet wreath can only work for so long...) and I was craving a simplified look that would showcase seasonal flowers. Here are the 5 steps I took to update the mantel for spring that works for any season!
A neutral color scheme of black and white lets the colorful daffodils stand out and the green ivy topiaries add more spring color.
5 Simple Steps:

1. Set the background. I used a vintage window turned mirror but any large mirror or picture will work.

2. Add 3-5 repeating elements of roughly the same size.

3. Add taller elements.

4. Bring in a fun surprise like this spring banner made from upholstery webbing. A simple free printable you can download is great, too.

5. Plan a place for fresh flowers. This is what spring is all about!
And these fun ivy topiaries are super easy to make and add more spring green to the mantel. Click here for the how-to (scroll down the page to the directions).
This wide shot shows how I left the bookcase tops bare so the focus is totally on the mantel - and those gorgeous spring flowers!
