DIY Experiment: Embossing Concrete Challenge

I had this idea for inlaying a concrete stool with different colored concrete to create a design. Before I went ahead and tried to do it, I experimented a bit with embossing concrete. I ended up with these concrete plaques.

For this DIY you'll need:
Save the scrap pieces from your cut out, since you can make an inlay like I did. You can see this post here: http://www.hometreeatlas.com/6318/diy-remix-koi-fish-5-bucket-stool-diy/
The next step is to waterproof the cardboard. I did this by covering the two sheets together with packing tape.
You'll then need a back piece (covered in tape) to hold in the concrete
Then cut out strips of cardboard to form the box, and tape it all together.
I made these T pieces out of cardboard to stick onto the sides of the box to give it extra strength. Otherwise the wet cement will push the sides out.
The next step is to mix up your concrete and pour it in. You'll want a bit of a wet mix. And tap and shake the box gently to get the air bubbles out
Leave the pieces to set for over 24 hours, and then use a exacto knife to cut off the cardboard.
