I have been wanting to repurpose an old dollar-store aluminum tray, so I decided to try my first chalkboard paint project on it. If you can paint, you can create this DIY project. I have found many uses for my chalkboard tray; including, but not limited to, a menu board and cheese tray. 1. Clean the aluminum tray surface, and prime it. 2. Add three coats of (affiliate link) Rust-Oleum Specialty Chalk Board paint. 3. Let dry, rub chalk on the tray. 4. Clean off the chalk, and voila, the tray is ready for use!
The tray is very versatile. It can be a cheese tray.
Step1: Prime the tray with Behr Premium Plus Mutli-Purpose Primer & Sealer.
Step 2: Add the first coat of chalkboard paint.
Step 3: Add the second coat of chalkboard paint.
Step 4: Add the third coat of chalkboard paint.
Step 5: Rub the side of chalk on to the tray to prime the paint.
Finished product!
The tray can also be a menu board. Or whatever your heart desires.
