Blooming Bradford Pears smell like something dead here in NC. I wonder how people can stand to be outdoors or have a window open near them. Is there a variety that doesn't stink so?

You are not alone (4S), I will not buy or plant any privet of any kind anywhere. The same for Bradford pears, and Barberries (Berberis thunbergii).

I lost both my Bradford Pears last year to fire blight. I am in central Indiana. Fifteen years and they were beautiful. Still standing but very sparse on leaves. Heartbroken!
