Old Birdbath Comes to Life!

Sally Ross
by Sally Ross
I turned this old heavy plastic bird bath into a scratching post / hang out for our cat. I found this on the curb so it was free!
Before
I bought a roll of heavy rope from Walmart, painted it with some leftover brown chalk paint, and hung feathers on the side for her enjoyment :)
After
I hot glued the rope. The bottom of the bath is weighted so no tip over.
She tried it.
I think she likes it :)

I'd like to do this for Missy. Did you hot glue the strings for the feathers? Is that a pillow you added? This looks like fun.

Are the feather on the string hot glued on. I saw a warning a few years back about cats getting tangled in the string while playing and some choking ,

I have two cats and I believe I'll make them each one. A fabulous idea! Which department at Walmart did you find the heavy rope? Does it come on a roll? Also if you don't mind my asking where did you get your chalk paint? I know you can purchase it at any craft store, but seems like it would have taken a lot to paint the bird bath?

You are soooo creative - way to go! I don't have a cat, but I think this would look great in my garden (with a nautical paint scheme and minus the feathers/ pillow of course).
