Stains under the glass of a smooth top stove

I have the same problem.....I gave the stove to someone in need n bought another one......Oh MY GOSH..IT HAPPENED AGAIN....please let me know if you find a solution...I wondered if it was the bottom of !my pans...nope have new pans....it does seem to spot with splashed oil?? Maybe. Aluminum ring??

Bought a Frigidaire Gallery slide in range with glass cooktop. We followed the directions to clean top prior to use and clean surface with Weiman's Cooktop cleaner after each use. Therefore, so upset that within 3 months, a white ring/spot has appeared in the middle of one of the burners. We've tried cleaning as usual, used razor blade and tried baking soda cleaning trick, all to no avail. The spot (and several surrounding spots) appear to be beneath the glass and not on top where I can get at them to clean. I am worried that the same problem will occur if I get the top replaced. After reading above posts, has anyone else figured out the solution? Thanks!

my stove came from sears and when it happened to my stove I called them they said that it was a cosmetic thing and so it is not covered by the warranty and it does not affect how the stove works, they told me that it is a "flaw" in the design and nothing can be done about it.

Have no answers. Just a question of my own , Bought a preowned white top Frigidaire stand alone stove. As soon as I turn the burners on and they get hot, spots begin showing up. Bought a cleaner kit at Lowe's, and have used it repeatedly. Even when it looks half way clean, the minute I turn it on and cook something, other stains/burn marks show up. No matter how much I clean it, this happens. Concerned about safety. Is there a way to take the top up or off without calling a professional. Have not used the oven, but will soon to see if it has any problems. We bought large appliances from a person who was replacing all of his major ones. Did not know this was an issue until I started to cook. Have not been able to find any help online so far. If this stove is dangerous to use, I want to know. My hubby and I are in our late 70's and early 80's, and we do not want to burn the house down with a defective stove. Help.

I have the same problem and my stove is only a couple of years old. When I run my hand over the glass, it feels clean, yet there is obviously something there and I have tried magic eraser, hot towel with the baking soda, vinegar and dawn mixture and the cleaner made specifically for the stove top. IT's so frustrating!

This is interesting. I have had a GE glass top range and it is at least 25 years old. We cook on it every day and so far no problems or spots. I use the cleaning white lotion made for glass top ranges and also a razor blade held at a slant for getting off the burned on food. I guess I am lucky. Good luck to finding a solution for your problems. Could it be your pans? We use Corning Ware pans and ocasionally T-fal. The only thing I am particuliar about is when I make candy because the hot syrupy mixture will etch the glass stop top if it splashes out..

Hey everyone! Honestly I have paid a lot on so many different cleaners and polishes. I almost just bought a new stove because I was so sick of looking at it and nothing seemed to get the stuff off my stove top. So after reading ALOT online and trying different methods I did the vinegar and baking soda really thick Let it sit for a half hour and used a razor to clean it. Wipe it with a warm wet wash cloth and then I made a paste out of bar keepers friend and it made a HUGE difference. Didn’t completely get my scratches out but it seemed to help a lot.

i have the same problem and I’ve read all the post. Just cleaned my glass top stove to no avail. However the post from Koral Easley struck a bell in my head. I made sure all Burt stuff was scraped off, then I made a paste of baking soda and vinegar on a scrubbing pad and scrubbed on burner with this. Went over several time with medium pressure and It worked. Even the cloudy type stains were gone. Now I’m going to do my entire stove top and see what happens. Possible chemical reaction with vinegar and baking soda.

Well I’m back. After cleaning my entire stove top for the 2 nd time today, it does look better using the mixture if baking soda and vinegar, however still not as the manufacturer says. I’m 68 and purchased all new appliances three years ago and have determined that men have been the engineer on most of these

their not worried how much time a woman has to spend cooking, cleaning washing, just as long as they can sell their new inventions to the consumer.

if I live long enough to have to replace, I definitely will go back to the old type of appliance even if I have to go to second hand place to purchase. Lol

This happened to me. Started as a white hue underneath the glass. Beware! Small cracks slowly appeared under the surface of glass then one night after cooking and turning it off, they extended and came to the surface. My landlord tried to blame me and claim money for a new unit but i did my own investigating. I hadn't dropped anything on it and simply used it to cook! I spoke with the manufacturer and sent photos. Because there is a white hue under the glass where it cracked by itself, they believe the heat sensor has failed, causing the element to overheat and cause the initial crack. This makes perfect sense as the white hue is underneath the glass also. This is covered by warranty. If you ever see the white hue or cracks underneath the glass that appear, take photos/ videos as this is more proof it is not an impact crack. It is very important to document any damage as there are several reasons a cooktop like this could crack and it's very expensive to replace and incredibly frustrating to do so when you are not at fault!

So glad to find this post! I just bought a Samsung glass top. After one use I got those same marks you all are talking about. Samsung refused return, I am lucky Home Depot will take it back. Just need to figure out what to get now.

Mine is 45 plus years old. It’s but yellows around the ring. I can get it pretty much like new with Clorox kitchen cleaner bleach or any kitchen cleaner bleach. Me daughter had a light gray soeckled one which looked like it would even be easier to keep clean.

did you ever try the turtle wax? anything ever fix it? I have the same smooth black spot now. After 20 years of cooking, my husband retires and takes up cooking and in one month, the same black stain appears on my cook top.

I have a the same problem. It’s not where the stovetop needs to be cleaned it’s just dark spots that are appearing on the cooktop. It’s not on the eyes (look at photos). Has anyone had that problem before? It’s a GE that I’ve had about 7 years. I had an older one for 2( and never had a problem.

Hi Mary, it may be worn from pots rubbing on it, if you can't get it clean with a razor scraper, then it may be just worn. could be the brand of cooktop as well, can you google the brand and see what they say about the staining?

Can the glass be lifted to clean the stove

I would contact the manufacturer. Ther is a company called Repair Clinic 1-800-269-2609.They are extremely helpful and have parts for almost everything.

Here's the deal with the glass top range I had the same problem sooooo my OCD took over & I (being a car guy ) said where the hell is my buffer so I got some BAR KEEPERS FRIEND (works better than comet) made a paste with a little lemon juice & hit with my buffer 💪 & it's a done deal !!

Has anyone EVER received successful advice that worked from the manufacturer?
