Silverware wood boxes

Question

I have two silverware wood boxes, the kind like Grandma used to have.  The inside was covered in fabric.  There were separate compartment for the spoons, forks, ect.  What can I do with these?

Clean up the box inside and out. Decorate to your taste. Mount on the wall in kitchen to store spices.  The box now opens from the side, the base with compartments are now shelves. Attach cup hooks to the inside lid and hang teaspoons, nutmeg grinder etc... things that are small and get lost in a larger drawer can be hung on a hook.  
Or use as a medicine chest.  If it doesn't have a lock already on it (some silverware boxes did) you could add one.

If you are a crafter, they could be used to put small paint brushes in, or markers or crayons. the small spaces for beads or other tiny objects. Or use to organize desk drawers.

Make a gift out of the box; remove the dividers for the silverware and shine up the outside or refinish it as need..then reline the inside with fabric. Now you can fill the box with crayons or other gift ideas, like hand sewn items.

Another way would be to remove the fabric, then paint or stain the wood, add knick knacks, turn it into a shadow box for any room. Cover the opening with a piece of glass to make it dust free.
