These Sat in a Garage for Three Years Waiting

When the auction owner told me about these nighstands he had sitting in his garage and told me I could have them for free, I immediately told him I wanted them. That was three years ago and they've sat there waiting for me to be ready to renovate our master bedroom. Till now.
It's not the worst piece of furniture I've refurbished. But it has to be in the top three - filthy dirty from years in storage, drawer stuck from being exposed to the elements and the veneer literally peeling off.
After a good cleaning with warm soapy water inside and out, I removed the veneer (check out how I did it on this post: http://www.newhousenewhomenewlife.com/2014/09/the-easiest-way-to-remove-damaged-veneer.html). Then I painted it in Fusion Mineral Paint in Algonquin - a taupe stone colour. It looked really good. But I wanted some bling!
The bling came by way of a dry brushed layer of metallic paint in Champagne - a soft silver/rose colour. To dry brush, I simply loaded my paintbrush and then dabbed off any excess before applying it to the piece.
Once it was dry, it was sanded to distress the edges and smooth down any brushstrokes.
The top will get a lot of use as a nightstand, so it's sealed with a matte polyurethane finish. I used two coats to be safe. The Fusion Mineral Paint doesn't need any protectant, I was just being overly cautious as my nightstands always have a glass of water and books on them.
Before - dirty, peeling BUT free! After - I love it!! The backdrop is my curtain fabric. You can see how the metallic paint picks up on the sheen in the fabric.
