Calling all crafters: help me decide the layout of my new studio!

I'm so excited that my craft studio is becoming a reality; it's been a dream for over decade to build a studio in the basement. However I'm undecided about the final layout; this is where YOU come in!
Head on over to my blog at Birdz of a Feather (https://birdzofafeatherhome.wordpress.com/2016/03/23/calling-all-crafters-help-design-the-layout-of-my-studio/) for a full description of the three layout options from which to choose. Then come back here and let me know which one you would pick as a final craft studio layout!

Hope this helps. My cutting and sewing room is in the same space. There are many times that I have to go back to the cutting table, and think it would be hard to have to walk into another area farther away.

@SereniteaSB - that's a great point! I built a previous studio in my parents home where the two rooms were separated so I guess I'm used to it, but it certainly would be convenient to have it all working like a 'kitchen triangle', so nothing is too far away.

I agree with SereniteaSB about cutting and sewing room together. You have an office which could be in the seperate area allowing it to be used for homework, school projects (if you have young ones living inyour house). or other projects which require a serene, uncluttered area to work. Looks great - am persuing a similar laundry/craftroom project myself at present so found your post very interesting.

Make one wall or part of one wall a blackboard - a great place for ideas, sketches etc. I have whiteboards but I always go to the blackboard; chalk is cheaper than whiteboard pens and you can buy the blackboard paint and do it yourself. A quick 'wet wipe' and old ideas are gone, ready for new ones!

just a thought- move your laundry a bit closer to the stairs. growing up, the laundry machines were in the opposite corner from the stairs- had to carry it thru what amounted to be 3 other rooms. my magic triangle for the sewing room? ironing board, cutting table and sewing machine. did not happen in my new space- room very skinny, but long. depending on what you sew ..... an audition wall is helpful....does this fabric work with this one or not? p.s. i quilt...

Have you ever thought about putting the cutting table on wheels? I don't know about the rest, they all look like good options.

@Birdz of a Feather my cutting table is a base cabinet from an old kitchen. you will need to put block of wood into the corners - screw the industrial castors in place. or have a friendly welder mate the wheel to frame.

The more open and portable (rollable, movable furniture pieces) your space to move around in the more options you leave open to be a creative worker as your design and project ideas grow. And don't ignore "air space". Especially for hanging rolls of fabric, paper, etc..from ceiling or upper wall spaces.

I was thinking about this more last night. If enough wall space, I pictured columns of blackboard and pinboard - equal width. Something like that...

@Ranger .... or maybe blackboard and peg board; that way I can have easy access to some of my tools? So many choices!
