Are there ANY reliable dehumidifiers?

We have bought 3 in the past 4 years (LG and Soleus). All have failed after about 18 months. The fan & compressor both run, but the hi-pressure and suction lines do not get hot or cold. Since the system is sealed, I expect the refrigerant to be OK (right?) Any thoughts on getting it working? (Or do I do the same as the other 2 and keep a few salvagable parts and send the rest to the metal re-cycler?)

My kenmores have worked like changes for years...not sure who makes those for Sears but it may have been LG.

We are the distributors of solar thermal assisted dehumidifiers. These work very well. In fact in Florida, a commercial establishment installed a larger version of this. Their A/C demand went down by 30%. This in conjunction with solar thermal collectors can provide adequate hot water all through the year and will assist in dehumidifying a home of about 4000 sq.ft. If you really desire to avoid black mold and have a very comfortable home, you will need to think of something bigger that will do the job and not fall apart in a few months.
