Turning Outdated Side Tables Into Benches

Do you have a couple of outdated but sturdy end tables kicking around? If so, check out a way to recreated them into a gorgeous coffee table that doubles as extra seating when needed.
We are coming to the end of another month and that means another super fun project for The Fab Furniture Flippin' Contest! (Check out the projects I completed for January and February) This month our theme was Mix & Match and the Sponsor was Fairfield World.
I began the project by painting both tables in a custom mix, medium grey colour. To create the seating for the benches, I first traced the table tops onto the foam and then used spray adhesive to attach it to the tables/benches.
To finish the seating, I covered the foam with batting, attached some gorgeous Spoonflower fabric and covered the seam with cream coloured cotton trim.
Now these outdated side tables have not only been given a new life but can be used as two small side tables, one large coffee table or two extra seats when needed.

what type of paint did you use to paint over these, or did you have to sand them down first to take off old varnish to make the paint stick to them?

You did a very nice job. However will these seats hold an adult? I converted a table to a bench but had to reinforce legs with cross brace.

Some years ago, We got out little Long haired Doxy and Moms teeny tiny poodle rescue! They were always running to the window and standing up to look out and in the course of that, they were scratching my Mom's window sill which didn't make her happy. I went to a yard sale and for a dollar found a little stool that I thought would be high enough so I bought it. I told them that they could look out the window from the stool but not the window sill. It took them only a few minutes to get the idea and when ever they heard a noise outside, they would run jump on the stool to look out. No more scratched window sill.

I had a cat that used to love looking out the window like that too. I made her bench to sit on and look out the window ;) They certainly do catch on quickly.
