Any tips to remove oil?

Bought a freshener, it leaked through to my table. Removed the tablecloth, it pulled up paint! Any tips to remove oil, that is without further damage?

Sorry to answer your question with questions, but what is the table surface? And the old seeped through the tablecloth and paint? How much is still on the table?

steve - dunno the table surface - its just an Ashley table if that helps. I didn't realize the freshener had leaked, so it seems the table cloth soaked up much of it, but there's about a 5-6 inch strip - tacky to the touch - i tried wiping it when I first pulled up the cloth, but it started to take more of the paint/varnish away

Su - your air (?) freshner most likely had a percentage of alcohol in it too which is probably what contributed to the finish on your table top softening and pulling away. I would call Ashley or if there is an Ashley store in you area call them and ask them to contact Ashley on your behalf. In reality you are most likely looking at either refinishing the table or keeping a runner or something on top to hide this place. Good Luck!!

So it's the old story of the leaky air freshner huh? I think I'd write to the air freshner co. and complain to them too that their faulty product ruined a table!!!

You won't be able to repair a spot - the entire table top will need to be re-done.
