Just bought a passion plant. Never saw one before.

Question

What is the best way to care for it, says you can bring it in during the winter months.  Right now in a transportable pot, any suggestions?

Just know that they are invasive. I'm in Northern CA they go dormant in the in winter and re-appear in the spring.

I'm not sure if you mean passion flower, the vine, which are in the Passiflora species, or 'Purple passion' plant, also known as 'Purple Velvet,' which is Gynura aurantiaca. It is the vine. Currently in a pot on my porch, so it can be moved inside during the winter months.

I'm not sure which particular Passiflora you have, Pat, but in general they are great plants for attracting butterflies. They want a mostly sunny spot, but will take some shade. Put a loose layer of mulch over the roots to offer them some protection. Depending on where you are in Georgia, you could probably plant it in the ground. It would die back to the ground in winter, but should come back in spring. They're fast growers.
