Ask Mountain Meadow Day Lily farm in Clayton, GA. Carolyn grows thousands of varieties and is a leading expert.
Pinched back? I think if you want them to bloom you should just leave them alone. I have never heard of pruning any type of lily, ever.
Actually, Pat, pinching them back would be a very good way to ensure you don't get a a single bloom from your Stargazer. Bulb-type plants, of which lilies are one, do not respond in this manner. You will end up having no blooms whatsoever if stems are pinched or topped.
thanks to all who responded... I had been through my books and could not any instructions. I will check with Mountain Meadow for further instructions. Regards to all...
Good luck, Pat. Stargazers definitely add fireworks to the summer garden.
