French Country Cottage Buffet Server Makeover

When I found this piece I knew right away what I wanted to do with it. I love French Country style and I wanted it for the piece.
I wanted the piece to look worn and old like it had been used in some farmhouse in the south of France. I know I have a huge imagination..... I started by prepping the piece by sanding it down to get rid of the old finish. I guess I could of used furniture stripper but I'd rather sand.
I made the "chalk paint " brew by mixing paint and calcium carbonate ( line marker from Home Hardware) I did 3 coats, sanding between each coat. The paint colour is Polished pearl by Behr.
I had found this piece of vintage toile du jour fabric which I used to decopauge it to the door inserts. I used polyacrylic to do this process. I did many layers of the polyacrylic sanding between each layer. The results of this technique are fabulous the more layers the better it looks! I heavily distressed the piece and waxed it with clear wax.
