Miriam Illions on May 25, 2013Welcome to Hometalk! Yes, you reply on the post with a thank you. That way, the people who commented will receive a notification letting them know that you responded. You can also tag them in your comment, like this @The Polka Dot Closet. Simply use the @ symbol before their names (like on FB). Hope this helps!Helpful Reply

Gail Salminen on May 27, 2013Welcome to HT, I think I commented on your post - lovely house tour. On this site you don't need to thank each individual - to let them know you read the comment you can like the comment and they will know you read it. Some people will respond to each comment, but if you get a lot of comments, that is a lot of work. Some will post a thanks to everyone every so often. If people ask you a question, it is great when you get an answer. Everyone is also interested in updated photos when a post is asking for ideas/feedback etc. Most keep their comments constructive and positive, have only seen one comment that was a little off, but when I read it again a few weeks later I am not sure it was meant that way, but boy did the positive HT people come out and respond, in a positive way. I really hope you enjoy your time here and you stick around, you seem like a talented lady with lots to offer.Helpful Reply

The Polka Dot Closet on May 27, 2013Thanks Gail, I did not see then little "like" at the bottom....New learning curve, I know when people comment on my blog I visit every blog back. And on FB, I do like you said to do here, respond every few comments. Can I ask you one other thing....How often do people post projects, is there a good amount or too much. I have had a DIY blog for 3 years and I think people might be interested in my most viewed tutorials.....Or maybe not? What do you think. I just don't want to over saturate. Thank you again!Helpful Reply

Gail Salminen on May 28, 2013Sorry for the delay in responding - spent the day in the garden, may favourite haven. I find there is a lot of posts, but you don't have to comment on them all, just the ones you are interested in or find particularly unique. There are lots of project posted, but you don't see them all at once. You will usually see those you are following first, then the others, sometimes geared to where you are posting. You are automatically set at seeing all posts when you click on the Home Talk logo (to refresh what you are seeing), or you can narrow it down to your interests only. You can also unsubscribe from receiving more updates for a particular post from your e-mailed updates. I think you should start posting your tutorials here. Just give a brief overview and a pic or two then a link to the tutorial. Remember to always leave a space before the url and after or the link won't work. I look forward to seeing your tutorial, I just love all of the ideas shared here.Helpful Reply
