Any ideas for a flowering ground cover? I would like a ground cover around my mailbox and small areas with flowers. I have heard of phlox, would that be good and does it come back each year? I have no photos.

Phlox does come back every year and it is beautiful while it is blooming. However, it has a short season so I do not know if it would make a good ground cover wher you want something flowering throughout the seasons. You may wish to check into ice plant or coral bells.

Another ground cover/border plant that I am trying is called "snow in summer"- it has pretty white flowers. I am also planting creeping myrtle, red creeping sedum and magic carpet thyme... a lot of ground covers, I know, but I am working on transforming my yard into a flower garden. Good luck!

Groundcover phlox does have a pretty short bloom time, whereas perennial geraniums bloom practically forever.

@Douglas Hunt I never heard of perennial geraniums. Will they winter over in zone 5 in Ohio?
