Patio Bench Made From Chairs

I came across these chairs at a Habitat ReStore. $15 each was pretty reasonable because they are HEAVY and I was looking for something fairly sturdy so there was no chance of it blowing off the deck. A few 1x4's and furring strips, leftover paints and top coat and we're ready for some relaxation.
The chairs are very sturdy, very orange-y and ugly. They just needed cleaned up.
The seats came off easy. I had some other chairs that had the seats screwed AND glued on. They fell apart when I started to take them apart. This was a piece of cake.
Used leftover pieces from other projects for the seat.
I spray painted the chairs with a paint & primer in one. A base coat of black and another coat of Dark Walnut. Look nice, too nice though. I added a very little bit of color by dry brushing a couple of different colors on top of the primer. The seat slats were trimmed down and the edges cut at the same angle as the chair frame. I sprayed the bottom of the slats with the paint/primer. The top of the slats have primer and various other colors dry brushed on. Then let the distressing begin!!
Primer - Check!

Paint - Check!

Distressing - Check and double Check!

All that's left is to screw on the seat slats and add the top coat.
All done now. I used a spray Spar Urethane to seal it all. That seems to weather a little better than plain spray polyurethane.
The colors on the seat are Dark Walnut primer, metallic copper chalk paint, turquoise chalk paint and a touch of red here and there.
