Leaves wilting on newly planted red maple tree

I put it in the ground before reading up on how to plant it. from what i later saw, there wasn't enough space around the base, it was too tightly packed, and I put the fertilizer into the ground. i dug it up and now it's standing in a big hole in my yard. how can I save it? someone suggested I flush the hole with water to weaken the fertilizer. is there any hope?

How much fertilizer did you use? If it's mixed into a significantly larger planting hole you're diluting it already. Remember, planting holes should be twice as wide as the pot but no deeper. The best thing you can do for that tree is get soil back around it and water on it.

It sounds like it's stressed from being replanted. Deep water it regularly.
