We have painted our front hallway a purpleish-gray. I want the trim to be a creamy white. Does anyone have a specific paint color suggestions for a cream? I get so confused when I'm looking at paint chips and comparing them.

Whites are very tricky when painting. It would be best for you to take the chip of the purplish gray color and hold it up to all the white chips. Once you think you have the color picked buy a sample and try in in your home . Lighting plays a very important role so what you might like in the store it may not work in your home.

Purple-gray and creamy white probably won't be the right color choice. Cream has yellow tones in it and it would look off with the purple and gray. I would go with either a pure white or a white softened with a hint of blue. Paint a (minimum) 12"x12" piece of drywall with your current colors and bring them with you to the paint store. Check out color swatches with natural light. Then, bring home a sample or two and try it out in the room. Better to be sure, than to have to repaint trim work!

Golf Tee White by Ralph Lauren. Used it all throughout my house and I love it.

I understand the headache!! You could gather some paint chips that you like the look of at the store, then bring them home and hold them against your wall color. Or tape the chip sample to your trim so you can look at it for a couple of days before choosing.
