Gold Mirror to Work of Art

A friend came to me with this big mirror. She wanted me to "work my magic" as she puts it. Her colors in her living room are hunter green, browns, and tans. I knew I had a very limited color palette to work with.... When working with Unicorn Spit, for me, the ideas just come as I go along.
Before and After - I used a combination of Blue Thunder, Dragon's Belly, and Midnight Blackness on this mirror. I started by painting the mirror with a base of chalk paint so the Spit would adhere.
I hand painted and also used my fingers! It was like I was a kid again! Finger Painting and messy! YAY!
I wet distressed it in certain areas to bring some of the original gold through...
Unicorn SPiT is so versatile! It's easier to work with than your other paints and stains.
My friend was very happy with the result! Check out Michelle's page for some more techniques! www.Facebook.com/UnicornSPiT/

Liz on Jan 07, 2017I am not familiar with the paints she used. It seems too complicated for a newby being me. I got all excited because I have a couple of gold mirrors similar to the picture shown. I want to turn them more of a bronzy color. I thought maybe I'd spray them black with matte paint and then sponge paint a bronze color over the black. What do you think?

Lisa Marie on Feb 03, 2017you can do that or you can just distress it after you paint it to show the bronze through?
