It could be wires inside the switch arcing and if it is you need to change out the wiring (take off the switchplate and look at what it does every time you turn the lights on and off.)That was a problem with some houses in our subdivision. It can cause an electrical fire. Check it out for safety.

Electricity is something I never fiddle with. If I were to hear a sound like that I'd be calling in an electrician immediately.

"...it is bad???" Yes. May be a simple fix, though, but call in an electrician.

If it is a clicking or tapping sound that happen when you flip the switch then you have arching. Basic this means that the connections are either loose or not grounded correctly. I take it from your question you are poses sing 0 to NO electrical experience. Thus switch off this switch and tape it off to block use then call an electrician.

The electricity in your light switch is not supposed to make any kind of noise when it's switched on. If it is making a noise you should first of all STOP TURNING THAT PARTICULAR SWITCH ON IMMEDIATELY!! There is a possibility that the switch may be arching or throwing little bolts of electricity (similar to lightning) inside your wall. If it is, it could start a fire and burn your house down. And unfortunately, most electrical fires burn inside the walls for a very long time and cause extreme amounts of damage and worse yet become even more deadly because they stay in the walls until they eventually find its way inside the house. So please call a licensed electrician to check on what the issue might be and to check the rest of the wires in your home to make sure that everything is ok with your wiring.

Tape off the switch until it is fixed. I had the same issue in the kitchen and an electrician found a hot wire was dangling in the fixture.

Please shut off light and tape it down so nobody can use it until you've had an electrician check it out. Often the cost can be less than 150.00 for call and fix. Please don't chance it. It's vitally important to check. Ask for a free estimate?

You can call the building department in your village hall and see if they can refer an electrician. You don't want to get ripped off.
