What can I do to make an asphalt covered walk look good?

I have an asphalt front walk it even goes around the side of the house. I also have the driveway and the floor of my garage in asphalt. It's a problem in the garage as , as explained to me why my garage walls were out of true, asphalt is a liquid and flows.
I have thought of painting but it look tacky, thought of wood slat walk, but have concern as there are seven concrete steps up to the walk and the final one would be out of proportion and perhaps dangerous.
Ideas??

don't know much about working with asphalt. Maybe give it a kind of white wash and make it look kind of like a marbling effect. Not sure how long that would last.

@Cheryl Thank you. I can try some of the suggestions on the side of the house walk or on the driveway...if they don't work, no mess! 't

Pictures are definitely needed to help you. Because there is more than one area you are trying to correct I think one area at a time would be best.

What about a stencil? Then cover it with a poly? Just a thought :)
