Any suggestions on getting rid of moles/voles. They are taking over our yard.

You are not alone. Quite a few people have asked about this. Here are a bunch of Hometalk threads about moles: http://www.hometalk.com/?filter=moles&search=posts and voles: http://www.hometalk.com/?filter=voles&search=posts

You can purchase exterior rodent stations from Bell Laboratories called Protecta LP or Protecta Landscape, one is black and one looks like a rock, Place contrac weather block inside on the proper holders and anchor down to the ground with a large spike. Place these where the voles are burrowing around your home and garden areas. Replace bait regularly, it will work for voles it just not labeled for them. We have had good success up here with that. As far as moles use a combo of harpoon traps and talpirid worms. the voles are easy the moles take patience I would watch the videos on utube about how to set harpoon traps. Also look up the info about where to place and how to set. The traps do not come with instructions and it can be very frustrating and unproductive if you don't do the research.

Juicy Fruit gum. Place a stick of unwrapped gum in several of the mole hills. The critters will eat the gum but cannot digest it. Leave the bodies in the hole and other moles will not move in. ** A tip learned from Ms. Kelly, a 90 year old country gal, still doing her own gardening and canning.

@Tom ... I've tried it several times in Missouri and in California. It works, much to my surprise and delight.

I tried the peppermint for two years. Didn't work! They just made new tunnels! I tried flooding them out and that just made them wet. Killed a few. But i think that they eat their own!! At the time, I lived way out in nevada. And the only thing that worked was a pellet gun.
