A Dated Bathroom Makeover- DIY Style!

I buy old, neglected, ugly houses and flip them- all by myself! In my 2nd flip, I bought a 1974 Ranch that was outfitted with the peak of the disco design. It needed some massive renovation and updating. And fast!
Come follow along on this crazy, house-flipping life at my blog, The Bachelorette Pad Flip! I'd love for you to see what I'm doing on Flip 3.
I'm not gonna lie, when I walked into this bathroom, I almost headed for the exit. The 40 year old disgusting carpet IN THE BATHROOM almost did me in.
I honestly think the original builders picked anything that was Harvest Gold and crammed it into every square inch of this bathroom. And that wallpaper, I was dizzy just looking at it!
The thing with house-flipping is that sometimes things get interesting...like when the house smelled like a dozen nail salons for an entire day! But, oh so worth it! Did you know you can paint a Harvest Gold shower? Or a pea green too...well, any color actually!
And one of my favorite things with house flipping is painting. Well, technically I HATE painting, but I always love to see how fast and dramatic a transformation can happen with just a gallon of paint.
But with a little bit of elbow grease and creativity, I was able to transition a dated, hideous bathroom into a show stopper! By adding a DIY backsplash, farmhouse vessel sink, and rustic mirror, modern hardware, you could hardly tell it was the same vanity!
Thank Jesus the wallpaper is gone forever! With new energy-efficient windows, calming blue paint, water-saving toilet, beautiful faux wood plank tile, new shower door, would anyone even guess that was the same Harvest Gold shower?! To see how I accomplish all of these changes, check out my blog!

Could you break down the costs of each part for me? We have a similarly awful bathroom (pale marbled blue toiltet and vanity sink), Hollywood glam lights over vanity, etc. and I cant find a contractor willing to upgrade without breaking the bank!

What do you recommend for color changing of a tub enclosure for a home you actually live in. I'm so perplexed. I want something that will last.
    • Glazing will last if you take care of it properly. No bleach cleaning products. We had one in one of our rentals and it lasted 10yrs+

How did we baby boomers survive the '70s? EVERYthing was harvest gold or avocado green. And don't forget the shag carpets! Love your rehab. You do beautiful and amazing work.
