Repurpose Countertop Samples Into Chalkboard Tags

Today I am showing you how to create those cute chalkboard tags you see all over the retail stores for virtually FREE by repurposing material that most of us have lying around the house in a junk drawer or out in the garage. Yes, you can make your own chalk board tags using those laminate counter top samples from the hardware store! These are great for attaching to baskets for organization or to use as home decor. The possibilities are endless with these chalkboard tags! Here is how you make them:

You can use these chalkboard tags attached to baskets for organization or for home decor, or as a gift tag like in the picture below attached to a wine bottle. The possibilties are endless!
Start by gathering up your laminate countertop samples. Any size or color will do since you are painting over it.
Paint on your chalkboard paint. I used Krylon's calkboard spray paint but any chalkboard paint and color will do, however I personally feel the darker color the better for this project.
Apply two coats of the chalkboard paint and allow to dry inbetween coats.
Then season your chalkboard tag by rubbing the entire piece with the side of the chalk, then wipe it clean and draw any design you want.
Then attach it with ribbon or like I did with twine around a wine bottle, or like the picture above where I attached it to a pitcher of flowers. The possibilities are endless!
