Wondering what this is...it has a ”Bulbous” bloom hidden in center..not very visible... don’t know where it came from.

This plant has white trumpet flower and some kind of spiky round pod.
It is roughly 3 ft. tall and the stems are very thick. The flowers resemble moon flowers or very large rose of sharon.

I looked online but the leaves don't quite look like the sumac plant pictures online. There is a lot of it.
We bought a lot that has been vacant for at least 3 yrs. so this hasn't had much water but is thriving. We live in Nevada so it is desert landscaping.
It started growing around the edge of the yard. Kinda looks like asparagus, but then got fuzzy branches and pods growing on it.
