How can I stop the wrinkling of my area rug? It's on carpet in my apartment, and I have a heavy dining room table on it. Our apartment carpet is awful so I want to cover it and I really liked my area rug. Do you have suggestions?

You can try using double sided tape for carpet.

I put a piece of plywood between my rug and carpet. I have a heave coffee table on wheels that made mine wrinkle. This did not completely solve the problem but it did help a lot.

A rug pad is designed specifically for this purpose. They're available in a variety of sizes. I wouldn't use tape or plywood when there is a flexible product that will allow the rug to look and feel comfortable like a rug and still stay in place

Billie is right...the pad is the best choice. The second choice is to place a small tile square ( from Lowe's or Home Depot) under each table leg.

Glue gun lines on reverse to stop slipping

A relative of mine is in the carpet business & they sell these "grip-type" under-pads specifically for this purpose. I have one under my rug which is situated (on carpeting) & under the coffee table. I wouldn't recommend using plywood as (a) it won't feel or look as nice & (b) it could present a tripping hazard. Just my opinion! You might still get a tiny bit of movement but little wrinkling.

If you are putting an area carpet on wall to wall carpet, forget it. I bought a carpet pad the store told me designed specifically for this. It was expensive and did NOT work, carpet still gathered. Trust me
