Vintage doors?

I recently bought some vintage doors, I can't wait to make our coffee table out of them. However, I love the chipped paint look but should I have them tested for lead before bringing into our home. Or should I seal them with a protective coat and be done? Please advise thanks,Cherish (no picture sorry) but they are old white doors with original skeleton key hole

you can buy the lead test kits at Lowe's or Home Depot. I have heard they are pretty accurate. I have never tried them though.

I would suggest both. Lead test kits are pretty good. So they will give you an idea if they do contain lead paint. But a good quality clear sealer should be used anyway or you risk stains should something spill. If your concerned about the lead paint, and rightfully should be. You can always strip the doors, outside, using a good quality liquid or tape stripping compound, No heat gun, and repaint and distress the finish once it dries to mimic the older look.

I was going to say seal them with a clear sealer because they might not stand up to wear and tear as a coffee table.
