How can we cover up chipped spots on our kitchen tiles?

We have white tile in our kitchen and there are spots where we have dropped things and chipped the tile.  Now we have these brown spots in the tile.  What can be used to cover them up and be sturdy enough to be walked on without getting removed?

The biggest drawback of ceramic tile is that it cracks easily.  I had it in my kitchen and the best thing I ever did was get a runner that ran the  length of the floor in front of the countertop and another for under the table. As the tiles cracked we eventually had them replaced.

We have very similar tile in our kitchen and also have a chip. I recently used grout renew to cover the gross (original) unsealed grout and also used grout renew to fill the chip. You have to look really hard now to even tell where it was. This pic shows the product we used (it comes in different colors) and also the covered chip....at the base of the bottle.

Purchase some mortar in lowes or HD in a small jar or plastic tub. Usually it's a dark beige when it dries. Add acrylic paint to it when it's wet to match the tile as much as you can. Take a paintbrush and brush it on, then let it dry.( If it's a smooth surface you want, take a small piece of wax paper and put it over the mortar and gently press it down. Don't let the mortar spread out over the rest of the tile. After it's dry in a couple of hours , pull off the wax paper and the chip should be smooth and not noticeable. I would try this on an extra piece of tile first before putting it on your kitchen floor. I did this in my bathroom and it's holding up well. Unsanded grout might work as well but haven't tried that. Alternately if it's really a tiny chip you could just use acrylic paint to hide the flaw.

I'd buy a bottle of the epoxy paint you get to fix dings in tubs and appliances. It comes in white. You could tone down the bright white with VERY little brown to match.

You can purchase ceramic tile repair in a tube from Home Depot. I have white tile and it worked perfectly!

There's a product I just found that's premixed grout. Just put a little on a wet finger and rub in! You can find it at Home Depot or Lowes.

I have had good luck covering tile chips by using craft Patio paint.  Might have to mix two or 3 paints to get the exact color.  Be sure to clean the ding good first.

I used fingernail polish. It doesn't fill the chip just disquises it . For a crack use a tiny brush and paint the crack. This was passed on to me by a flooring store and yes they have white fingernail polish

Fill in the gaps (holes) evenly with white air-dry modeling clay (Hobby Lobby) & level off with your finger, back side of a butter knife or a ruler. Hope this helps.

This may sound funny, but I have used nail polish to cover chipped enamel on sinks and a bathtub before, with great success! And you don't have a hard-to-match aqua, like I did! It lasts a long time, and is easy to remove or touch up. The fact that your tiles are a mottled color makes it even easier! Take a piece of cardboard to the store and write the names of likely-looking colors on it, and put a tiny bit of the polish on it to take home to see what's best. You can mix colors, if necessary, but I bet you won't even need to.

Hi Sandra, you can use Bondo (the putty/paste used to patch dents in cars) to fix the chip. You can get it in a variety of colors and once it's set you can sand it smooth and level. .
