Hanging Strainer Garden Herb Basket

On my search at Goodwill I spotted this strainer and thought it would serve the purpose of a outdoor indoor basket for herb planting.
My strainer was spray painted in rust-oleum Vintage Blush Satin, I just love this color!
The strainer was painted with 2 coats. Dry.
I then used Weed barrier 4' x 8' found at the Dollar store to line my planter,(you can also use coffee filters). This was cut to fit.
I had some twine on hand that I wanted to use to hang my basket. It was thin on its own so I took strands and braided them together to make it stronger.
After lining basket, it was then filled with herbs, moss and garden tags.
This basket can be used in or outdoors. Great for apartment, condo, small space or just someone trying out a green thumb for the first time!
This basket was hung from a shepherds hook.Great benefits when hanging like keeping away insects, furry friends, and can be grown organic. This is easy to keep up.Now for a little snip for cooking! Yummmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Beautiful hanging pot, I was wondering if coffee filters hold up like the weed cloth???

But wouldn't coffee filters be cheaper? Also can you just tape or glue a few together the size u need and then maybe cut excess off as u need to? Just wondering if that would be possible to do with using tape or glue on the bottom of the filters?

Would the paint fumes or chemicals be dangerous to use with edible flowers?

I would paint only the outside of the strainer for that reason(IF you feel inclined to paint it.) If the paint isn't food safe it is possible chemicals might leach through the weed cloth.

      It's a very cute project

Does this strainer leak any water and do you keep it in doors where you would be concerned about water leakage
