Keeping a small out-door pond clean , north carolina

I have a 100 gallon Pond that was installed about 2 years ago, i have only put different types of goldfish in it. i have a uv light fountain and serveral plants. the water always goes green and full of alge. what can i do to keep this from happening. would love to see the fish.

    Hi Fellow 'John' I found this information regarding your problem with Algae : http://www.wikihow.com/Get-Rid-of-Algae-in-Ponds also another method is straw in a netted vegetable bag tie off and throw into the pond in Spring then when the straw turns black get rid of it. Hope this helps ;D

    I had green water so thick I thought it was hopeless but felt afraid of the additives because I LOVE my fish! I finally opted for a couple tiny, inexpensive bales of barley straw. 2 weeks later I thought it was wasted money, but was told to give it a month. Not quite a month into and I have to tell you, the water is crystal clear! Absolutely perfect! I am in shock and just wanted to share that with you! Best of luck!

    I'm in the process of finishing off my pond and I have read about using barely straw for algae. I will keep this all in mind in case I run into the same problem.
