Bug and misquito bites

my seven yr old grandson looks like he has chix pox all over his legs and then he scratches them until they bleed tried sken so soft spray cutter bug spray deep woods etc so far no luck,,,,,just want to clear up his little legs,,,,,,,calamine lotion seems to work some sarna at nighthelps to relieve night time itching taking forever to heal any suggestions?

I think you're going to have to figure out the source before effectively treating the problem. Is it possible he got in poison ivy? If so, Technu works miracles.

To add what Douglas Hunt said about the source. Not only do you need to be sure its not poison Ivy, if they are mosquito bites you need to find where they are developing. All the standard places such as old car tires, buckets, trash where water can collect are big ones. But be sure that you look up high. Check the gutters. Although they may drain ok, they may still be trapping some tiny ponds between some leaves. This is enough to have thousands of the insects develop. Even some flowering plants that trap water in larger leaves can become a place where these bugs develop. Become a nosy neighbor. Look around in other yards where they can be breeding. If you find something that may be contributing to them let your neighbor know. He or she may not even be aware of this. Not so friendly with them. Simply call the township health department and ask them to do a look see in your yard and just happen to point out something it a neighbors yard while they are there. It takes very little water and a very short time for these bugs to grow into biting insects. Mosquitoes come from pretty far away also. The wind blows them all over the place. So you not only need to think about your yard, but out of the box as well. Hope the grandson feels better!

If its standing water contact your local health department. They often have chemicals to spray on the water that will remove the insects or come up with a method of preventing the water from staying in that area.

If it's bug bites stick him in an epson salt bath with warm water for about 20 minutes! If they are still there tomorrow then redo. My son had that problem when he was little and I would have to put him in it. Sometimes it takes more than once. He def should look and feel better after the first one.
