Where is it growing? Is it in flower now?
If memory serves me right, it was Madeira Island. It was growing in an arboretum she was visiting. It was blooming in the early spring...hope this helps.
I looked up Taramix and although the flower looks similar, the foliage is very different.
Maybe a type of lilac? Does it have a scent?
Looks like a lavender version of a honeysuckle bush. it's gorgeous.
We may just have to go to Madeira to do some on-site investigating.
Tammie, I thought of a type of lilac, too, because the leaves are similar. Don't know if it has a scent, she didn't mention it. I was wondering if the flowers open more than what is in the picture...they kind of look tubular.
Thanks for the answers, but I'm still hoping for more ideas.
I think it is a Japanese lilac bush should bloom a few times in the summer
