Hi Hometalkers! Sharing a sweet, easy little project that I honestly thought would fail...but turned out super cute :) I started with some basic Air Dry Clay (You can see my supply list at the bottom of this post). And I rolled it out with a big giant rolling pin.
I raided my cookie cutter stash and found a biscuit cutter to use to create small little circular discs. I let them dry for a good 24-36 hours to cure. I also made sure the clay wasn't too thin. I had a few mishaps because a) it got really sticky and b) it was crumbly. So I'd say to make sure you roll it to about 10mm thick (or 1/4") and no less if you want your project to hold up.
Painted them up with some smashing gold paint and glued them to plain old clothespins! I painted each one differently and I just freehanded it. I also lightly sanded a couple of them that didn't dry perfectly smooth. I was going for rustic though, so I wasn't overly picky.
And here's the clincher! I had this old board in our basement. I had 'inherited' it from my in-laws when they cleaned out a crawl space in their home. I think it's pretty old. We also found some amazing raw cut wood in there too! Anyway, I didn't know what to do with it until this project. With some braided jute twine and dark brass furniture tacks, I created a grid on my board. Super simple. It took me only a few minutes.
Then, I used my air dry clay clothes pins to hang some photos on the twine. I'm seriously SO pleased with how this project turned out! It has inspired me to overhaul my gallery wall in my living room. (And it's actually spurred me on to make some other large changes on the main floor too!) Oh! And one other thing, this post is part of the Monthly DIY Challenge - so if you click over to my blog, you'll see links to SEVEN other awesome air dry clay projects from other bloggers out there :)

Do you have any close up photo's? I really can't tell a lot about them.

Great idea, what I really would like to know what kind of board did you hang your photos on? It looks like an old shutter, is it?
