Butcher Block for Our Computer Desk for $50.00

Having a builder built computer desk was great but the plastic top never sat right with me.
It is a long desk top (96 inches) and IKEA did not have the right size for us so we had no choice but make it. I did not want to spend so much on it so my husband and I came up with a plan.
Pricing butcher blocks was kind of overwhelming.
Visited many lumber warehouses but it still costed more than I wanted to pay for.

Ended up at Homedepot buying 2x4s and cut them half and perfect squares so the edges would not rounded. I did not like how it looked like just putting them together without cutting them half.

After it was done we glued them together one by one. Let it dry for a couple of days and the sanding has began.
The edges are sharp looking and for $50.00 it was a bargain. I think we saved a ton of money just like many other DIY projects what we have completed.
Here is the final product
It looks so much better than the silly plastic

Did not use cedar, regular builder grade. Only glue and clamps. After sanded it down to make it smooth and even
