I've always liked doing crafts. But in the last year I have found some paints and stains I have fallen in love with that has made me want to reach out and brighten the world. I can use a brush, a sponge brush, or my hands and fingers to do all this. Follow my work and see just how I have done these beauties!
Take a plain tv tray, and clean it up soap n water- No need to do any sanding cause I'll be using chalk paint that needs no prep. Then I'll be going over that with a wonderful gel stain and glaze, followed by a sealer of oil based polyurathane.
I wet the tray with water to help the Unicorn SPiT gel and stain grab on to the tray and move freely- Did all this with my fingers wiping and dabbing until I got to the middle blob of white ming SPiT gel stain. Used finger nail to make star burst! Let dry and sealed.
Suggested materials:
  • Used chalk paint to start as a base.   (WalMart)
  • I used Unicorn SPiT gel stain and glaze   (www.UnicornSPiT.com)
  • Must use oil based polyurathain sealer   (Lowe's)

Since chalk paint is latex based, I didn't think you'd be able to use an oil-based sealer. I thought you'd have to use something like Polycrylic since it's water-based. Educate me...
