AK, I know what I want but I need some to design it into my space and or tell me that I need to take down a stud wall or something. I know I don't have enough power/outlets. So I need someone to say "code" says you need them 4 ft apart so you really want to put the Electric fireplace closer to here or the tv's/bar here. It is already "roughed" in. So it has some stud walls and the plumbing piping is in. I want to get rid of the "so call walk thru area and just open it up. I want a 8ft pool table. I need to know what the rule is as far as how much space you need to move and play safely around it. that type of stuff

Sorry to jump in so late, but I figured one more good reference couldn't hurt if you hadn't started already! We recently started planning our basement remodel and needed help with the overall design because it was laid out in a really bizarre way. Gary McCormick, with Affordable Craftsmen, (dot net) was the only person who was able to see past what was already there and come up with a floorplan that not only made sense, but made the space a lot more useable. He was also able to spot a number of code violations in the work done by the previous owner that we'll be able to fix as we move forward in the project. I was worried we were going to have to either live with a series of oddly connected rooms, or tear out the whole basement and $tart over, he's only moving 2 walls over about 2 feet, moving a couple of doors and building a hallway and the whole place works!

Hi Joan, It always great to hear about good experiences, plus its not to late. I have family in and out for the month during their vacations. So I haven't started. Patiently awaiting for all visitors to leave. Then I will start the deep cleaning and finding all my stuff they used and put up for me.. LOL Then get back on track with the basement.. Thanks..
