It is a Croton. The leaves are of a very simple croton. Crotons vary very much in shapes and colors, they are tropicaly beautiful! That white flower is identical in all crotons I´ve known. Right now there are some in my garden!

Yep, a croton although I have never seen one flower. Many people collect them that's how many different varieties there are.
  • We always called these plants "corn" plants due to their leaves resembling the leaves on stalks of corn. I've had one for nearly 30 years and it's still going strong. They like bright light but not direct sun. When they do flower, the blooms have a very strong aroma that is pleasing. The blooms leave a sticky residue that can drip on furniture or floors, so be mindful of this. Mine is well over 8 ft. tall and is kept in a room with very tall ceilings.

26 years ago we bought our first house which was 40yrs old at that time. It had been empty for about three years, and whoever was maintaining it kept the yard mowed; everything, including the plants. So as plants started popping up that I wasn't able to identify and properly care for, I would take a leaf or two to my local nursery and they would ID for me and let me know how to care for. I suppose this is probably moot with the info you can get on the internet these days, so this will be a Throwback Thursday post, LOL.

I agree it is a croton. My friend's mature croton (huge red and yellow) bloomed in her living room some years ago. This photo is similar to how hers looked.

It is a croton. If you keep it as a container plant, let the soil almost dry out before watering. They do not like it to be too moist. Will not survive very cold weather.

Take it to your local Nursery or Home Depot that has plants. They usually know.
