Oversized Cross Stitch American Flag...on a Broken Table!

As I was driving down the highway, I spied a pile of broken furniture that had clearly tumbled from someone's truck. One of the pieces was a vintage cane table and the cane survived!! So, I picked up the debris (hurray for less litter!!) and repurposed into an oversized cross stitch American Flag! Make sure you check out my full tutorial for all the DIY details!
This is what I spotted along the highway...literally, a pile of furniture that had unfortunately been ejected from a truck the night before. But, check out that cane...it's still intact!
So, I took it home and set about repurposing it! I gave it a good cleaning and a makeover with some AMAZING new paint I just discovered (details in my blog post!). Now I want to use this paint on everything!!
Then, I created my own cross stitch design and got to work with red and blue yarn!
When all was said and done, I had a pretty amazing piece- doesn't it work perfect for an American flag? Now I have something lovely to display for Memorial Day, July 4th, and really, all year long. Truly from trash to treasure...or more accurately, "from shoulder to showpiece!".
Talk about a patriotic upcycle / repurpose project! And if you've never tried oversized cross stitch before, it's really easy to do and the results are amazing. Happy crafting!
