Repairing or replacing closet doors
track and is always falling over. What should be done? The handymen can't repair the track. What should replace and cover this very large closet space? If I remove the louvered doors, what are some neat ideas for their use? Thanks.

Trixie63 on May 23, 2016Excuse my ignorance but can you get another track? It seems I've seen them at our local Restore. A good temp dilution would be curtains whether new from the package or from sheets or paint tarps.Helpful Reply

Pas2122358 on May 23, 2016Thinking of a couple of possibilities. One might be to install French doors. I am tired of the tracks that eventually ALWAYS fail. Thanks for the help!Helpful Reply

Pas2122358 on May 23, 2016We are considering your idea and also transforming the doors into French doors, which can be done without too much trouble. One problem is that I will have to hire a handyman, which will be rather expensive. However, it may be worth it to stop worrying about that door falling off the track at every use. Thanks for your help!Helpful Reply

Jon Dupree on May 23, 2016unless the track is mangled and bent that is not the problem the hardware is, the door is not hung square to the opening or it is just to short for the opening. Bi fold closet door are some of the hardest to get hung right and have adjustments at the top and the bottom on the hinge/pivot side so you can get it in the opening properly.Helpful Reply

William on May 23, 2016You don't say whether you have sliding bypass doors or bifold doors. This is an easy fix! I've included sites that cover both types of doors. You can get replacement parts at the big box doors if you need them. Even replacing the doors is easy. They come with all the hardware and instructions. The big box sell those too! You don't NEED a handyman! Once you've repaired or installed a set of doors, it's like riding a bicycle. You never forget! Please post what you chose to do (with photos).
