A Pink Wooden Change Table

Stock furniture doesn't have to be outdated and boring. Change the entire look of a tired piece of furniture with a little paint and give it a whole new life.
I love pink. It has always been a favourite colour of mine. I don’t have a lot of it in my house (and since I have never had children, could never deck out a baby room in pink) but I do love it none the less. I love the softness and femininity of pink. It speaks of a gentler time to me. A time when life was a little slower and the world was not so complicated.
Spindles, unlike pink, are my nemesis! Despite the fact that I I do not, in any way, enjoy painting spindles I knew it had to be done. I think this piece just spoke pink to me. Maybe it was my innate desire to cover my spindly nemesis with beautiful pink or maybe there was a little baby out there who needed a soft pink change table. Either way, I knew this dated, wooden change table needed to be pink.
Second, I chose Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Antoinette. Antoinette reminds me of the soft, supple leather of worn ballet shoes. It is not a bright pink but rather a subdued, subtle, soft pink.
Once the coat of Antoinette was on, I gently sanded all of the places that would normally have been worn if this piece had been 100 years old. As I sanded little bit of Antoinette off, the Cream began to peak through and they were the perfect pair.
The old, wooden change table now has a soft glow of a piece that has been used and loved over many years and will be used for many more to come.
