Cottage Farmhouse Wall Art Using Plates

I have always wanted to do a plate wall somewhere in my house but never quite had a collection of plates that I loved enough to make one. I collect plates here and there as I find them at thrift stores and recently I found a beautiful pair of fern plates that I loved. I looked high and low for the third plate but it was nowhere to be found so I purchased the pair and decided they were too pretty not to be hung up and displayed!
I also had picked up a set of white scalloped edge plates from Ikea also at the thrift store a few months before finding these. I set them aside hoping to create a white plate gallery wall at some point, so I paired these two fern plates with one of the white plates from Ikea to create wall art next to my fireplace.
We are lucky in Kansas City to have Nell Hills, a designer home decor store, and these were Nell Hills that someone donated to the GW. Since one was missing I was wondering if they may have been considered an incomplete set and possibly donated straight from the store. Either way I was happy to have found such a cute set of plates.
I finally have a place to display the gorgeous plates that I find and now I am sparked to create another one in my dining room! This grouping creates a beautiful cottage-y farmhouse look for just a few bucks! You can recreate this look at your home using any combination of plates that work with your decor. So if you're looking for unique wall art check your cupboard as you may have a beautiful set of plates just sitting there waiting to be displayed!
