I had a set of old suitcases in the storage closet so when I got my new puppy I decided to make her a cozy bed. I must confess she does not sleep in it but we use it for her toy box.

My cat is called Ducky—it's a long story why. I have made her her own poop deck which is a plastic storage box (22l x14w x17h) with a tight lid and I have cut a cat sized hole in one end so she can get in it whenever she wants to. It keeps the odours down to almost nothing, and it is so easy to clean. I'm sorry that I can't show you a picture, simply because I don't have either a smart phone or a digital camera handy. Yes! I'm still living in the stone age, but happy doing it.

Sassy Sue. I made here a sterling silver ID tag in the shape of a cat. Her name is cut in the front and my phone number is stamped on the back. I also included a nice little sleeping beauty turquoise stone on the front. She was missing for 10 weeks one Bitter cold winter. Someone finally found her several miles from home and called me. I think she was very happy to be home and back in a nice warm house.

My hubby and made a cat shelf all around the room at a Little above eye height. It has a ramp up and down on opposite sides of the room. He loves to climb up there and watch his world. There is a larger shelf that has an attched(with Velcro) pillow.

I bought a wood cabinet, sanded, painted and cut out a hole the shape of a cat's head with a jig saw to make this hidden litter box cabinet. The only thing I would do differently is to use polyurethane on the inside to keep moisture away. I have shelf lining there. I should add that my oldest cat at 18 was "going" where he wasn't supposed to, so putting this where he was going stopped that. Now, he uses the box. There is a metallic gold under the lattice work in the front and it cost me under $45.00 to make.

My last place had exposed rafters instead of a ceiling, so I made shelves on one wall that the cats could hop up to and get into the rafters. They could come down the same way, but they preferred to run across, jump onto my tall cabinet, and then onto the waterbed, usually while I was sleeping. They spent hours up there.

My big cat Cornelius loved to lay in my yarn stash so one day I made him his own mat. Now that he is gone, I make them for the local no-kill shelters to either give to the kitties or sell in their gift shop. You can see the post here if you want to make some for your own furbaby or a shelter near you. http://www.thriftyfun.com/Crocheted-Cat-Mats.html

God Bless you and the Shelter you support, Sandra. I was visiting my aunt in Roseburg and couldn't believe all the feral kittens I saw near her home. I have 7 rescues myself -- one with feline AIDS.

I recently cut down a tree in my garden and also had some decking boards replaced, so used the old decking boards to create this for my cat...
    • Cindi Cindi on May 30, 2016
@Danni Rothery What a great idea. My neighbor had a corner shelf built into their fence for the stray cats. I might take an old cat tree and do something like this so my cats can look over without GOING over the fence. My neighbors don't mind but I like them to stay in their own yard.

We have several dead cedar trees on our property. My hubby cut branches in two foot pieces. He cut plywood for the shelves. I covered the shelves and one pole with carpet. We both agree that the branches should have been 18" instead of two feet.

I took a wiffle ball covered it mostly in fabric pieces leaving 1 hole open and filled that hole full of catnip. I then covered hole with fabric my friends cat just loved it to pieces but it took some time for him to get holes in fabric to get to catnip, like months.

Sorry I don't have a picture, but we had a catio built for the cats back in 2005. Some almost live out there year around, only coming in for necessaries like food and drink

I used a bought cat tree on one side and modified it by replacing a tube she didn't used with a platform she uses a lot. Using 2x4's, plywood pieces, 2x6 (top andfor the steps) and metal bracket and joiners all covered by carpet. Mystic (my pixie-bob) loves it, we placed it around the patio doors but with enough room for her to fit on the top. I added wider pieces af each end of the top so she could turn around or lay down on it easily.

  • DORLIS DORLIS on Jun 04, 2016
My four have the run of the house. Tables near the windows have plants arranged to the cats needs. They climb and walk across shelves with figurines, etc and somehow, over the 30 plus years, have never knocked anything down. They own my lap. I also keep cardboard boxes during the winter for them to sleep in and paper bags to play in. I guess you would call me a crazy cat lady.
    • Ruidoso Ruidoso on Jun 04, 2016
@DORLIS You and me darling are both in the same club. I have six--four of them are brothers and they behave like humans too with the same attitudes and antics.
