Indoor Cat Garden

This is how the conversation went with my daughter last week after coming across bobble head cats, and digging out doll furniture from the garage, while once again trying to clean out more stuff I've accumulated.
Me:
I found these cute cats and doll furniture in the garage, do you want me to make Augie and Emily something to go by their window, and with plants? (Because they never go outside.)
My daughter:
OMG! YES! That would be so cute, and they would love it!
Me:
Oh, good ,a few less things I'll have to pack up to donate, all while thinking how I'd put all this stuff together.
But, after looking at it for a while the kitty hideout idea started coming together. I removed the doors on the doll bed, and cleaned and painted everything black. We cut two sections of the rug and screwed them to the inside of the doll bed.
We screwed the cats to the legs of the table. I was going to use the chalk board in the picture above until I saw the cat one at Walmart.
I had an old pillow, so I used two bandannas to make the pillow cover. I used a red one for the bunting.
I researched plants on aspca.org before getting any, to my surprise there were so many choices that are nontoxic to cats. I came across the cat mats, and they couldn't have been more purr-fect, especially after my daughter sprinkled them with a little catnip.
Emily.
It takes Augie a while to warm up to new things, but Emily checked out everything. I think they are going to love their hideout.

Yes, you guessed it, Emily in the middle.

Love the idea of re-covering old throw pillows. I have several but don't own a sewing machine. How did you make your new pillow covers? Thanks!

That is one great looking spider plant. What's your secret to growing it so nice looking and FULL?

Your kitties will be so happy with their garden. It is so creative just adorable, and love that you included your daughter, I bet she was thrilled with the end results.
