How to clean oil paintings?

Painting has what looks like mold on it. I am afraid to use bleach or detergent.

Try gently brushing the area with a clean new toothbrush and see it you can remove whatever is on the painting. I would avoid using a cleaning solution as you may damage the painting.

Yet another surprise try using a doughy type of bread. Take the biggest part of the dough and gently rub from one side to another.

Using a mild dishwashing soap make "regular" dishwashing strength dilution and use soft toothbrush very gently. Only do small area at a time, drying with soft lint free rag as you go

Thank you all for answering my question. and giving me the courage to try to clean the 1976 oil paintings. Used bleach, water, tiny pit of detergent, very soft toothbrush, dampened soft cloths. Did the paintings in small sections being careful to use as little of the mixture as possible, and dried each section with the soft cloths. Paintings are so much brighter and I am pleased.
