How I Made My Dream Coffee Bar

I purchased a late 1960's home just over a year ago.
Here is the BEFORE picture (on a good day).

The original built-in cupboards and shelving unit gave away the age of the house, it was hideous (in my opinion), and kind of and awkward orange-ish wood color. The space was not easy for me to decorate since the shelves were narrow- they just ended up cluttered and the counter was a place to stash mail, papers, and a catch-all for everything else.
We decided to take out the top pieces of built-in (thanks hubby).
And paint the walls; and my wonderful husband taped off a HUGE square for the backdrop of my shelves.
We had custom shelves built (a friend of a friend made them for a price I couldn't refuse!) while we painted the cupboards!

(Sometimes it has to get worse before it gets better).
Next was decorating!!!

For most of the decor, I stuck with very neutral colors. It's easy to decorate shelves and have them be too busy! The eye needs a little rest unless done just right and keeping a neutral pallet helped balance out all the pieces on the shelves.
I absolutely love my COFFEE BAR! For more DETAILS and more PICTURES please click the link below.

Love it! Only thing I would add would be a water source and/or a bar sink.

I think it’s beautiful. I made a coffee bar out of a old tv stand. I’m not quite finished with it but I love it. I still have to put the hardware and doors on it.
